Introduction
Published:
First and foremost, welcome to my blog! I hope that you find it engaging, helpful, and informative. I plan to post whenever possible. Likely, this will not be on a rigid schedule. This blog will primarily serve as a platform for me to share snippets of code and ideas related to scientific computing, computer science, nuclear engineering, etc. As mentioned on my home page, I might also throw in a few non-technical blog posts for some spice.
I have considered starting a technical blog for years, but I have just now committed to the idea. In the past, I was too busy with graduate school, research, work, etc. Another component was that I thought I had nothing of value to say. As for everyone, 2020 has been a strange year, and one of the many unexpected things that happened is that I found some time to start this blog. Another wonderful thing that happened is that I earned an M.S. in nuclear engineering, and now I am feeling more confident about sharing my ideas and projects.
One of the beautiful things about having a personal blog is that one gets to choose what one wants to discuss. There is no committee, advisor, boss, publisher, etc. who review, censor, or influence what I will say. I will do my best to remain grounded in truth (when appropriate 😉) and maintain a high level of quality with each post.
Navigation
I will uninhibitedly meander through various topics. You can expect my posts to vary in formality and technicality. To orient readers, I will tag each blog post with the anticipated audience. Additionally, there will be tags about what tools are being used (languages, packages, math, etc.).
Reader Engagement
All feedback is welcome. Every blog post will include a comment section at the bottom of the page. Criticisms, critiques, questions, and miscellaneous comments are all welcome. My only request is that you please comment in a tone that is respectful and courteous to others. I hope that this blog will be a nucleation site for lively and constructive discussions. If you would like to chat with me directly, please feel free to email me at andfranklin3@gmail.com.
About Posted Code
All code posted in my blog, unless otherwise stated, is enveloped under the permissive MIT license. Feel free to copy, modify, and redistribute code to your heart’s desire. My only request is that you would refer to me in some fashion if you redistribute the code.
Disclaimers
I might express some opinions from time to time. Some of which I will possibly regret, and some might agitate certain people. That is how opinions tend to be, especially in this day and age. If something I say rubs you the wrong way, please try not to take it personally. As the music critic, Anthony Fantano, says:
Y’all know this is just my opinion, right?
Showing Support
If you like my work and would like to show your support, please share my blog posts with your friends and colleagues 🙂. I also graciously accept coffee as a form of gratitude.
